Cupping (also called Hijamah or Hijama in Arabic) is a form of Complementary Medicine practiced mainly by those of the Islamic faith (Muslims) and the Chinese. A glass or plastic cup is placed on the skin and a vaccum is created. This is dry cupping, or massage cupping if the cups are moved. In wet-cupping, small superficial cuts are made on the skin, and through the vaccum, stagnant and 'toxic' blood is removed from the body. Confused?
